How To Increase Norepinephrine- Naturally or With Meds

Norepinephrine levels should be optimal- not too low, not too high.  MS is linked with norepinephrine deficiency , and treating this deficiency can lead to reversing the symptoms. Therefore, it’s worth exploring ways to increase norepinephrine, whether natural therapies and supplements  or  prescription drugs.    Natural Ways to Increase Norepinephrine Prescription Drugs that Boost Norepinephrine Coffee, Alcohol and More   1.Natural Ways to Increase Norepinenphrine A.Some natural ways to increase norepinephrine levels will involve some form of stress to the body, since this neurotransmitter kicks in during stress. Great examples of  would be cold exposure, fasting and exercise. Cryotherapy is an effective way to boost norepinephrine and was found to be beneficial for managing MS. Read the details here. Fasting (short-term, intermittent fasting) also increases norepinephrine levels [1] and can help improve MS. More details here. Exercise is another great way to bring your norepinephrine levels up [2].   B. Amino Acid Therapy The amino acids tyrosine and phenylalanine are the precursors of norepinephrine (as well as dopamine), thus eating foods rich in these amino acids or taking supplements can help. Phenylalanine Foods : Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid found in the brain and blood plasma that can convert to tyrosine, which in turn is used to make dopamine and norepinephrine. Best sources of phenylalanine are protein rich foods like meats (especially chicken, turkey, duck, wild game), eggs, fish and...

Success Stories of Reversed MS -Anna (Norepinehrine Deficiency)

Anna is Dr. Brunes patient. Her story of reversed MS comes from Dr. Brunes book “Slurred Signals”. Anna’s case  is a great example of norepinephrine deficiency (relative to acetylcholine). Dr. Brunes treatment focuses on balancing neurotransmitters, while taking into account other factors (read Dr. Brunes method here). Key signs and symptoms when there is too little noradrenaline relative to acetylcholine (note: not all the symptoms must be present): Extreme fatigue (could be the main symptom) Feeling powerless Weakness and fatigue are aggravated by heat Symptoms are ameliorated by cold Muscle spasms and aches Frequent urge to urinate (the amount of urine may be small) Legs feel heavy Excess saliva in the mouth Low blood pressure, low heart rate Wheezing Small pupils Diarrhea Difficulty setting boundaries, saying “no” or express anger Low mood/depression When there is norepinephrine deficiency, the other neurotransmitters will dominate. Acetylcholine will dominate in the first stages. Since neurotransmitters play an important role in the mood, memory and the way we behave, it is worth looking into Anna’s emotional factors (stress) and her personality as well. The symptoms of low norepinephrine described above come from Dr.Brunes. I did explore the key physical symptoms related to norepinephrine deficiency in this post. Anna was 40 years old when she received the diagnosis of MS, and started to follow Dr.Brunes recommendations two years later. The most prominent symptom was fatigue....

Neurotransmitters. Norepinephrine and MS- Is Deficiency a Secret Cause ?

Why you should know about norepinephrine (aka noradrenaline): its deficiency is associated with MS, and boosting its levels can help improve the symptoms. In fact, some doctors consider norepinephrine deficiency as the most important cause for MS ( treat MS by correcting norepinephrine levels) , much like Parkinson’s disease is well-known to be linked with dopamine deficiency [1]. Neurotransmitters control the way we think, our personality,  the ability to heal, sleep and enjoy life. They are the basic control mechanism of the body. Neurotransmitters are connected with immune  system and your hormones thus they not only control your brain, but also every cell of your body. For more info read Neurotransmitters 101.   1.Intro 2.Norepinephrine Deficiency -Signs and Symptoms 3.Norepinephrine Promotes Brain Regeneration, Fights Inflammation, Increases  Brain Blood Flow 4.Close Interactions Between Norepinephrine, Immune System, Brain  and Hormones 5.Norepinephrine Deficiency and  MS- Direct Link 6.Norepinephrine Imbalance Correlates with Symptoms of MS (Depression, Tingling, Numbness, Pain, Brain Fog) 7.Norepinephrine As a Stress Hormone -Involved in “Fight or Flight “ Response 8.Symptoms and Conditions Related to Excess Norepinephrine       1.Intro When I wrote about Dr. Brunes method, I mentioned I came across her work at the right time. I was doing my own research, looking  at the connection between norepinephrine deficiency and MS, and realized how  important is this connection. I even found  a scientific  study published in...

Success Stories of Reversed MS -Dr.Birgitta Brunes, MD

Dr. Birgitta Brunes  is a Swedish  MD who  has been living symptoms free for the last 20+ years and helped over 1000 people with MS to improve their lives, thanks to the extensive work and research in this field.  She works almost exclusively with MS patients since 1987. Read my other blog about her treatment plan for MS- Dr.Brunes Method. Her  method is absolutely brilliant, and is called “Psycho-Neuro-Immuno-Toxicology”. I will cover here Dr. Brunes’ story of reversing her MS.  Dr. Brunes makes herself clear- she does not claim she cured her MS, although  she managed to remain symptoms free for the last  20+ years. She does not describe in great details the steps she took towards reversing her symptoms like Dr. Terry Wahls, but I can only assume she followed the same steps she later recommended her patients to follow. This is what I’ve learned from her book, “The Slurred Signals” (2011):   Dr. Brunes’ initial symptoms included extreme fatigue and feeling her legs extremely heavy. She thinks the disease likely started during her teenage years, triggered by metal sensitivities (both nickel and mercury sensitivity confirmed by tests later on). Fatigue was the most important symptom during her first pregnancy (1976), and continued during the following years. Despite feeling extremely tired, she managed to get back to work. Her demanding job in the hospital required night shifts and some traveling. In...

Dr. Birgitta Brunes Method- A Treatment Plan That Works

If you have MS, you absolutely need to know about Dr. Birgitta Brunes work. Unfortunately, there is very little information translated into English. Fortunately, I have done some research, and I emailed Dr. Brunes to learn more about her treatment. Who is Dr. Birgitta Brunes ?  Dr. Birgitta Brunes  is a Swedish  medical doctor who has MS. She has been living symptoms free for the last 20+ years and helped over 1000 people with MS to improve their lives, thanks to her  extensive work and research in this field. Dr Brunes works almost exclusively with MS patients since 1987. This is her website in English.  How did I come across her research ? I was looking for success stories of reversing MS in the scientific database (Pubmed) and I noticed a few exceptional cases were actually Dr. Brunes’ patients. One is Anna, and I described her success story here. During the same time I was quite obsessed about  the link between norepinephrine deficiency and MS, and her book confirmed my thoughts that optimizing norepinephrine levels is essential for improving MS. I really wanted  to read her book “Slurred signals” (2011), but Dr. Brunes told me it is not published in English. The book was not published in English, and was unavailable in any language on Amazon, but this did not stop me from reading it. I found a couple of...
