Neurotransmitters. Norepinephrine and MS- Is Deficiency a Secret Cause ?

Why you should know about norepinephrine (aka noradrenaline): its deficiency is associated with MS, and boosting its levels can help improve the symptoms. In fact, some doctors consider norepinephrine deficiency as the most important cause for MS ( treat MS by correcting norepinephrine levels) , much like Parkinson’s disease is well-known to be linked with dopamine deficiency [1]. Neurotransmitters control the way we think, our personality,  the ability to heal, sleep and enjoy life. They are the basic control mechanism of the body. Neurotransmitters are connected with immune  system and your hormones thus they not only control your brain, but also every cell of your body. Success Stories of Reversed MS -Dr.Birgitta Brunes, MD

Dr. Birgitta Brunes  is a Swedish  MD who  has been living symptoms free for the last 20+ years and helped over 1000 people with MS to improve their lives, thanks to the extensive work and research in this field.  She works almost exclusively with MS patients since 1987. Read my other blog about her treatment plan for MS- Dr.Brunes Method. Her  method is absolutely brilliant, and is called “Psycho-Neuro-Immuno-Toxicology”. I will cover here Dr. Brunes’ story of reversing her MS.  Dr. Brunes makes herself clear- she does not claim she cured her MS, although  she managed to remain symptoms free for the last  20+ years. She does not describe in great details the steps she took towards reversing her symptoms like Dr. Terry Wahls, but I can only assume she followed the same steps she later recommended her patients to follow. This is what I’ve learned from her book, “The Slurred Signals” (2011):   Dr. Brunes’ initial symptoms included extreme fatigue and feeling her legs extremely heavy. She thinks the disease likely started during her teenage years, triggered by metal sensitivities (both nickel and mercury sensitivity confirmed by tests later on). Fatigue was the most important symptom during her first pregnancy (1976), and continued during the following years. Despite feeling extremely tired, she managed to get back to work. Her demanding job in the hospital required night shifts and some traveling. In...

Dr. Birgitta Brunes Method- A Treatment Plan That Works

If you have MS, you absolutely need to know about Dr. Birgitta Brunes work. Unfortunately, there is very little information translated into English. Fortunately, I have done some research, and I emailed Dr. Brunes to learn more about her treatment. Who is Dr. Birgitta Brunes ?  Dr. Birgitta Brunes  is a Swedish  medical doctor who has MS. She has been living symptoms free for the last 20+ years and helped over 1000 people with MS to improve their lives, thanks to her  extensive work and research in this field. Dr Brunes works almost exclusively with MS patients since 1987. This is her website in English.  How did I come across her research ? I was looking for success stories of reversing MS in the scientific database (Pubmed) and I noticed a few exceptional cases were actually Dr. Brunes’ patients. One is Anna, and I described her success story here. During the same time I was quite obsessed about  the link between norepinephrine deficiency and MS, and her book confirmed my thoughts that optimizing norepinephrine levels is essential for improving MS. I really wanted  to read her book “Slurred signals” (2011), but Dr. Brunes told me it is not published in English. The book was not published in English, and was unavailable in any language on Amazon, but this did not stop me from reading it. I found a couple of...

Fasting for MS: Introduction. Types of Fasting and Tips

Couldn’t find a better day to write this blog than today, a day when I am fasting. I did start to fast (24 – 48 hours fasting)  a couple of years ago, and I love the way I feel…well, except the first day when it’s OK  to experience some food withdrawal. The first thing you should know is that fasting doesn’t feel as bad as it sounds, it is doable. If you experience significant  irritability, fatigue, constant hunger, cravings for sweets or caffeine, or changes in energy levels after meals you likely need to  improve your sugar metabolism (again, fasting would help to optimize blood sugar levels). Secondly, think about the many health benefits of fasting for MS. Thirdly, there are a few options available (you can choose to not eat at all, eat during a few hours window period daily, etc). Ketogenic diet also mimics many of the benefits of fasting. Finally, there are some tips you can use to make fasting a plan you can stick with.   History of fasting Short term fasting has been common to many cultures for thousands of years- whether for religious of spiritual beliefs or simply because the food was not available, humans had been adapted to fasting. Scientific studies are now supporting its many health benefits. Hundreds and thousands of years ago, our eating pattern  was directly correlated with...

MS Fasting Diet. Health Benefits of Fasting

Fasting Helps You Live Longer and Healthier  Fasting Improves the Metabolism of Sugar and Fats/ Metabolic Syndrome Fasting Helps Relieve Symptoms of MS Fasting Improves Mental Function, Promotes Neurogenesis (the Formation of New Brain Cells), Fights Degeneration and Brain Inflammation Fasting Has Anti-stress, Anti-anxiety and Anti-depression Effects  Fasting Provides More Health Benefits than Ketogenic Diet Fasting & Autophagy (Cellular Detox) Cautions and Warnings It makes sense to get  multiple health benefits of fasting, just by looking at what happens when we do the opposite…  when we overeat. Overeating (or eating unhealthy foods) causes obesity. Obesity is strongly associated  with insulin resistance, high blood lipid levels, high blood pressure, lung and  heart diseases, certain types of cancer, gallbladder, liver and digestive conditions, different forms of arthritis, kidney diseases and an overall decreased health span. The combination of obesity and autoimmune diseases is a very bad one [1].  Even if you are eating healthy and maintain your ideal weight, you can still benefit from fasting. Some of the best studies in humans are those conducted  during Ramadam, when fasting is mandatory for adult Muslims. It is a one month fasting period (from sunrise to sunset). Other studies conducted in both animal and human studies support the many health benefits of incorporating fasting to your  lifestyle.   General Health Benefits – Fasting Helps You Live Longer and Healthier Research shows  that fasting can...
